Winner! Best of Weddings 2026
When Danny Snook picked up a camera in August of 1979, he wasn't thinking about wedding venues. He was thinking about light, and moments, and what it means to capture something real before it disappears.
More than four decades later, he's still thinking about exactly that — just with a lot more experience, a CPP certification, an award-winning family beside him, and a piece of land west of Abilene that he's turned into something couples drive hours to experience.
The Meadows wasn't born from a business plan. It was built by hand — literally — from a family that believes the best wedding days aren't accidental. They're designed, directed, photographed, and fed by people who genuinely care how the story ends.
That family is us.
Danny Snook Photographer · Venue Owner · The One Who Built the Greenhouse
Danny has been photographing weddings since 1979. He graduated from the School of Modern Photography and earned his Certified Professional Photographer designation in 1988 — one of the most rigorous credentials in the industry. He spent years in commercial television production and videography before channeling everything he'd learned into building The Meadows into what it is today.
He's the one behind the altar during your ceremony, capturing the close-up moments — the tears, the almost-laughs, the exact second everything becomes real.
He's also the one who built the greenhouse in the Brides Garden by hand, using vintage windows, because he wanted Vera to have a portrait space as unique as she is. That greenhouse — its weathered column, its antique glass panes, its gateway made from 150-year-old shiplap — is now one of the most photographed backdrops at The Meadows. And it started as a love story.
Danny's philosophy: The more you know, the better your decisions.
Vera Snook Award-Winning Photographer · Lead Wedding Director · Chief Liaison Between Venue and Vendors
While Danny is near the altar capturing close-up ceremony moments, Vera is at the back — catching wide angles, finding the candid moments that happen when no one is posing.
But Vera's role at The Meadows extends well beyond the camera.
As our Lead Wedding Director and primary point of contact between the venue and every outside vendor on your wedding day, Vera is the person holding your day together at the operational level. If your florist has a question about setup timing, they go to Vera. If your DJ needs to coordinate sound check, Vera handles it. If anything needs to be communicated between your vendor team and the property, it flows through Vera — so nothing falls through the cracks and you never have to play middleman on your own wedding day.
During posed group shots, Vera positions and directs your wedding party while Danny shoots, cutting your portrait time in half without sacrificing a single frame.
She sees the whole picture. In every sense of the word.
“Vera caught every fine detail.” — Ja'Nície Slade
Donna Snook Wedding Director · Trainer · The Woman Who Built the Standard
For years, Donna has been the reason The Meadows wedding days run exactly as they should.
She's the one who walked your wedding party through rehearsal the night before. She's the one who made sure every centerpiece was in place before a single guest arrived. She's the one who held your timeline steady from the first processional song through the last dance — so you never had to think about any of it.
Donna built the standard for what a Meadows wedding day looks like. And now, she's doing something equally important: she's teaching it.
As The Meadows grows, Donna has stepped into a training and support role — personally preparing each new Wedding Director to deliver the same level of care, precision, and calm that she brought to every wedding she directed. She remains an active presence on our team as a backup director, ensuring that her standard is never compromised.
When you book at The Meadows, you're not just getting a Wedding Director. You're getting a director who was trained by Donna Snook — which means you're getting her standard, carried forward.
That's not something you can hire. It's something you have to build.
Dustin Snook Executive Chef · Le Cordon Bleu Graduate · The Reason Your Guests Keep Talking About the Food
Dustin trained at Le Cordon Bleu — the culinary school responsible for some of the world's most celebrated chefs. He brings that training to every wedding at The Meadows, whether your guests are gathered around a Tex-Mex buffet or a made-from-scratch pasta bar.
This isn't catered-in food from a warehouse kitchen. It's real cooking, by a real chef, for the most important dinner you'll ever host.
When your guests lean over to each other mid-reception and say “the food was actually amazing” — that's Dustin.
Most venues rent you a space and hand you a vendor list. You spend the months before your wedding chasing emails, hoping everyone shows up prepared, and wondering who's going to make sure it all comes together on the day itself.
We built The Meadows differently — because after 46 years behind a camera, we knew exactly what a wedding day needed to go right.
It needed a venue that was genuinely beautiful across multiple settings and seasons. It needed photographers who knew every inch of the property. It needed catering that didn't make guests regret their RSVPs. It needed Wedding Directors trained to a standard — not just handed a clipboard and a timeline. And it needed Vera — not just behind the camera, but coordinating with your vendor team so every professional you've hired arrives informed, prepared, and working in sync.
The directors on your wedding day aren't hired off a job board. They're trained by Donna Snook — the woman who built the standard — and overseen by Vera, who's been part of this family and this property from the beginning.
Same family. Same standard. Start to finish.
“From start to finish, everything was perfect. The team was attentive and clear with instructions — it was a complete lifesaver for both stress and cost.” — Ja'Nicie & David
“Vera caught every fine detail.” — Ja'Nície Slade
“[They made] everything come together beautifully...” — Jovanni Valles (groom)
We know you have options. There are venues across Abilene, across West Texas, and across DFW that can host your wedding.
What we offer isn't just a location. It's a team — built deliberately, trained carefully, and invested personally in making your day run exactly as it should.
Danny keeps the moments — the real ones, the quiet ones, the ones you didn't even know were happening. Vera keeps your vendor team connected, your portraits moving efficiently, and your day on course. Dustin keeps your guests fed and genuinely impressed. And every director who stands beside you on your wedding day carries the standard that Donna spent years building — because that's the only standard we know.
We built this property with our own hands. We grow the flowers. We cook the food. We take the photos. We direct the day.
And when the last song plays and your guests start heading to their cars, we look at each other and know — we did right by that couple.
That's what we're here to do for you.
