THE WEDDING PERGOLA

Our Most Popular Outdoor Ceremony Location

There's something about the pergola that stops brides mid-sentence during tours.

Maybe it's the way the white fabric canopy filters the afternoon light. Maybe it's the tall oak trees standing quietly behind it, or the way the lush green turf makes the whole space feel polished and ready — no matter what month you get married.

Whatever it is, it works. The Wedding Pergola is consistently the most popular ceremony location at The Meadows, and we think you'll feel it the moment you step onto the grounds.

A Setting That's Styled Around Your Wedding

No two ceremonies at the pergola look exactly alike — and that's intentional.

Our in-house stylist Donna, decorates the pergola for each wedding individually, using silk flowers, coordinating fabric, and lush greenery selected to match your specific theme and color palette. Whether your vision is soft and romantic, bold and modern, or somewhere beautifully in between, the space is transformed to reflect you.

What makes the pergola distinctive:

  • Wood-look pergola structure with a flowing white fabric top that creates a soft, elegant canopy overhead
  • Custom silk flower arrangements coordinated to your colors by our in-house stylist — included for every wedding
  • Lush greenery and coordinating fabric added to complete the look
  • Year-round artificial turf that stays green and pristine in every season — the only venue in the Big Country with this feature
  • Tall oak trees lining the back and one side, creating a natural, shaded backdrop that photographs beautifully
  • Celebration Hall on the adjacent side — our 3,600 sq. ft. indoor event space is steps away, giving you a seamless transition from ceremony to reception (and a built-in rain plan if the weather doesn't cooperate)

The Green Grass You See in the Photos? It Looks That Way Year-Round.

This is one of the most common questions we hear on tours — “Is the grass always this green?”

Yes. Always.

The turf in front of the pergola is artificial — and it's the only artificial turf at any wedding venue in the Big Country. That means your ceremony photos will feature lush, green grass whether you marry in the middle of summer, the depth of winter, or any season in between.

No brown patches. No dried-out West Texas dirt. Just clean, green, beautiful turf that makes your ceremony space look exactly as good in December as it does in May.

You Won't Be Setting Any of This Up Yourself

From the silk flower arrangements to the fabric draping, from the white folding chairs to the final placement of every detail — our team handles all of it.

Our Day-of Wedding Director, is with you from your rehearsal the night before through the end of your reception at 11 p.m. She oversees every aspect of setup, coordinates the timeline, and makes sure the pergola and surrounding space are exactly as they should be before a single guest arrives.

This is included in every package. No extra fee. No outside coordinator needed.

That's the difference between a venue that rents you space and a venue that takes care of your wedding.

What's Around the Pergola Matters, Too

The pergola doesn't stand alone — it sits within a thoughtfully designed outdoor setting that makes the entire ceremony experience feel cohesive and complete.

  • Tall oak trees provide natural shade and a rich, organic backdrop along the back and one side
  • Celebration Hall  “To the east, the back of Celebration Hall sits just steps away — your reception space is that close, and the transition from ceremony to celebration is one of the smoothest you'll find anywhere. A concrete pavers walkway runs along the south side of the property, connecting Celebration Hall in the east all the way to the Brides Cabin and Brides Garden to the west. On your wedding day, that walkway is where everything connects — where the bride walks from her getting-ready space toward the aisle, where guests flow naturally from ceremony to reception, and where Danny and Vera move between locations without missing a moment.”
  • The proximity of both spaces means your Day-of Director can coordinate everything seamlessly, your photographers can capture both settings efficiently, and your guests stay comfortable and connected throughout the entire day
  •  The Outdoor Chapel — our second most popular ceremony location — sits back to back with the Pergola, so couples who tour one naturally see both. If you're deciding between the two, that walk takes about ten seconds.

Award-Winning Photographers Who Know Every Inch of This Space

When your photography is included through one of our packages, you gain something that no outside photographer can replicate: two award-winning photographers who have photographed the pergola hundreds of times.

Danny Snook — CPP-certified since 1988, photographing weddings since 1979 — and Vera Snook know exactly where the light falls at different times of day, which angles make the oak trees frame the couple perfectly, and how to capture the pergola's canopy in a way that makes your ceremony feel cinematic.

They use a dual-position system — Danny positioned near the altar for close-up detail shots, Vera positioned at the back for wide ceremony shots — so no moment is missed from either direction.

Edited photos are delivered within a week. Video content clips are included when you hire them as your photographers.

No other venue in Abilene gives you this.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the pergola covered in case of light rain? The white fabric canopy provides some coverage, but for significant weather, Celebration Hall — our 3,600 sq. ft. indoor space — serves as your built-in backup plan. It's steps away, always set up, and included with every package. You'll never be left without a beautiful option.

Can we choose our own silk flower colors? Yes. Our in-house stylist works from your color palette and theme to create custom arrangements specifically for your ceremony. Every wedding looks different because every bride is different.

Is the turf really green year-round? It really is. The artificial turf in front of the pergola stays lush and green regardless of the season or weather. It's a detail that makes a real difference in photos — and it's one of the reasons the pergola photographs so consistently well.

Do we have to pay extra for the ceremony décor? No. The silk flower arrangements, greenery, coordinating fabric, and stylist labor are all included. You choose your colors. We handle the rest.

Is the Brides Cabin near the pergola? Yes. The Brides Cabin is on-site and is included in every package — it's your private getting-ready space before you walk down the aisle. Full-length mirror, long vanity counter, and everything you need to have a calm, unhurried morning.

Can guests move inside to Celebration Hall after the ceremony? Absolutely — and it's one of the most seamless transitions you'll find at any venue. Celebration Hall is right next to the pergola, so your guests walk a short distance and step right into your reception. No shuttles, no waiting, no logistical headaches.

How many guests can the pergola accommodate? Our packages include catering for up to 100 guests, with additional guests available at $14 per plate. For ceremony seating, white folding chairs are included and can be arranged to accommodate your guest count.

How do guests get from the ceremony to the reception?

It's one of the easiest transitions you'll find at any venue in the region. Celebration Hall is steps from both ceremony locations — connected by a concrete pavers walkway that runs across the property. No shuttles, no parking lot crossings, no gap in the energy of your day. Your guests walk a short distance and step right into your reception. The wedding director coordinates every step of that transition so nothing feels disjointed.
